RADIAL NERVE PALSY
PHYSICIANS: JOHN HODGES, MD & BENJAMIN D. SUTKER, MD

Last October I passed out, fell and broke my humerus. I was rushed to the hospital in Statesboro and thankfully, Dr. Hodges was on call. At the time my blood pressure was very low and I was not in the right condition to have surgery. Dr. Hodges recommended that I heal in a traditional fashion, rather than risking my health.

A few months later, during my check up, Dr. Hodges later recommended me to Dr. Sutker, who specializes in hand, wrist & elbow, because I had eventually lost complete function in my arm. After some tests were run, it was concluded that I had probably severed the radial nerve in my upper arm. Dr. Sutker had to do an initial operation to see exactly what had happened. When he did the surgery just a couple of short weeks later, he did indeed find that I had severed the radial nerve in my arm. He scheduled my second surgery immediately and did the tendon transfer.

I had both of my surgeries at Optim Medical Center-Tattnall in Reidsville, GA, and I could not have been happier. My experiences there were wonderful and I’m so appreciative of both Dr. Hodgesand Dr. Sutker. My husband and I both deeply respect both doctors because of their honesty. Dr. Sutker was very clear in how he laid out my options and I really appreciated that. I would without a doubt recommend Optim. After being very diligent in my Occupational Therapy at Optim Medical Center-Tattnall, I now have 95% of my function back in my arm. I know with a bit more work and flexibility I’ll be back to 100% in no time.
